General
a. We are conveniently located at 139 West 35th Street between
Broadway & 7th Avenue on the 2nd Floor. We also have courses available in Long Island, Queens, Brooklyn

a. NYREI is currently accepting Workforce 1 vouchers to cover the
expense of tuition. Contact your local labor office for more
information, or call (917) 493-7000. NYREI is also accepting the VA GI
Bill. Students who qualify must first pay for tuition, and will be
reimbursed by the U.S Government.
a. We offer several different packages for the Workforce voucher.

Salesperson Course:
a. The major differences between salespersons and brokers are license requirements and client interaction.
Brokers are generally required to have more education and sales experience than real estate salespersons.
A real estate salesperson is licensed by the state, but must work for a broker.
a. In order to obtain your Sales License, you need
75 hours of sales class time.
a. You do not need to have any previous sales experience to become a salesperson,
nor are there any prior education requirements. No GED required.
a. Unless you are a lawyer or attorney, all persons must complete
75 hours of sales time in order to obtain a license.

a. Anytime! Sales classes are offered seven days a week in our Manhattan office
(
3 class sessions Monday-Thursday,
2 class sessions Fridays & weekends).
We also offer our Salesperson program online.
a. You may need to take notes during the lessons, so bring a highlighter and a note pad.
We also offer our students a textbook authored by one of our certified instructors for a fee of
$45.00.
a. We accept cash, money order, credit or debit card. We do not accept personal checks.
a. Yes, Platinum Package allows you to combine classroom and online hours.
a. Yes! Registration is always ongoing, and you can attend the same day.

a. You have four (
4) months from the time you attend your first course to
complete the sales course and school exam.
a. NYREI offers its students a two month extension after four months. The extension fee is $150.00. We encourage all students to finish within 4 months.
a. Each class is approximately
2 ½ to
3 hours long.
a. The Salesperson course includes
20 modules (classes) that will
give you all the information you need to be a salesperson. NYREI offers its students three different package options to choose from. Prices are as follows:
"Basic Package" $495.00 - Includes 20 complete sessions, job placement assistance,
and real estate industry seminars (given every Wednesday afternoon by New York City Sales Brokers).
"Professional Package" $750.00 - Includes 20 complete sessions,
"Intro to Real Estate" seminar, 2 group tutoring sessions and $50 credit toward your first Continuing Education Discount Pack.
"Platinum Package" $995.00 - Includes 20 complete sessions and everything from the "Professional Package" plus unlimited School and State exam tutoring, free textbook, ability to mix and match online & in-person classes, 1 session with our guidance counselor and a career advisor, as well as your first Continuing Education Discount Pack completely free.
a. No it is not.
Our textbook is offered to our students for
$45.00.
a. You are more than welcome to repeat any of the
20 classes.
Please note you will only receive hourly class
credit the first time you attend a class.
a. Absolutely! Tutoring sessions are held by our certified NYREI instructors every
Monday 9:00 am,
and one evening and one weekend per month.
a. Tutoring at NYREI is
$45.00 and is approximately 3 hours long. FFor students who purchased our "Professional Package" or "Platinum Package" tutoring is unlimited and free of cost.
a. In order to be eligible for our school exam as well as the state exam, you
must complete
18 out of the
20 modules,
totaling
67.5 hours of mandatory class time.
a. No, all our lessons are independent of one another. You don't need information from one
lesson in order to move on to the next one. You can start classes in any order.
a. You must take our school exam. Upon achieving a 65% passing grade or higher,
you will receive a certificate of completion.
a. No you do not. We offer the school exam every
Monday at
1:00 pm,
one weekend a month and one week night a month.
a. Although New York State temporarily permitted virtual proctored exams during the Covid-19 pandemic, current regulations require that a proctored final examination be conducted in-person at an approved location within New York State. We offer the proctored exam once each week on Mondays at our NYC location, but can also find an approved location near you.
a. No worries, you can always schedule to re-take the exam with one of our counselors. You have three attempts to pass the exam within 4 months from the start of the Class.
A
$25.00 fee will be assessed after the third attempt.
a. You will receive a certificate of completion. Save this certificate, as it proves you've completed all coursework.
The State Department may or may not ask you to mail it in to them at some point. If you haven't done so already, you must obtain an eAccess
account on the
New York Department of State website.
This account will allow you to register for your state exam.
a. Yes, you can take both the state and school exam in any order you like, but you must successfully pass
both exams in order to apply for your license.
a. NYREI
does not administer the State Exam. You must go to your local Department of State
to take the exam. Exams are held every Tuesday. The cost for the exam is
$15.00.
a. Congratulations! You now must find a broker to sponsor you. Once you've done so, you can formally apply for your
Salesperson License. The cost to apply for your sales license is
$55.00. Once you receive it,
you can start working immediately.
a. We have brokers that come to NYREI
6 days a week to recruit students.
They actively recruit between classes, so feel free to stay and listen to what they have to say.
You're also welcome to find a broker independently.
a. Your passing school exam is good for eight (
8) years and your passing
state exam is good for two (
2) years.
a. No, no degrees are necessary to obtain a salesperson license.
a. Yes, and you do not need to have a degree to obtain your license.
Brokers Course:
a. The Brokers License Course is 45 hours in total.
a. In July of 2008, the Department of State changed the sales course hourly
requirement
from 45 hours,
to 75 hours. Those already licensed prior to July 2008,
who are now going for their brokers license are responsible to take the new additional 30 hours from the sales
person's class (sessions 13-20).
a. To be a broker, you must accrue
3500 points in sales.
a. You can find an itemized list of point values for sales transactions on the
Department of State website.
Point values can be found on the 4th page of the broker's application.
a. You must contact your broker for that information.
a. Yes! You can call us at

Please be advised a
$25.00 fee will be assessed.
a. You can use a completed Brokers Course (which includes passing the school exam)
as your continuing education; however, you will also have to take a fair housing course as mandated by the Department of State.
a. You can make up the class next time it's being offered. Check our monthly Brokers calendar for class schedules.
a. You can always retake the Brokers exam the next time it is offered. You have three attempts to pass the exam.

a. NYREI does not administer the Brokers State Exam. You must go to your local Department of State to take the exam.
Exams are held once a month. The cost for the exam is
$15.00. You must register for the state exam through your eAccess account.
a. Congratulations! You now must apply for your Brokers license. The cost to apply for your Brokers license is
$155.00. Once you receive it, you can start working as a Broker immediately.
Continuing Education:
a. When a license is due for renewal, the licensee will be notified in two ways: a postcard reminder
will be sent to the licensee's business address and an email reminder will be sent to the email address provided in the licensee's eAccessNY account.

a. The New York Department of State requires licensees (both salespersons and brokers) to
successfully complete 22.5 hours of approved real estate continuing education within their two year license term.
a. Either of the below are exempt from the continuing education requirements:
- Any licensed real estate broker who is engaged full time in the real estate business and who has been licensed prior to
July 1, 2008 for at least 15 consecutive years immediately preceding renewal or
- An attorney admitted to the New York State Bar who holds a real estate broker's license.
a. Each continuing education class is credited for either 3.75 hours or 7.5 hours
(to see a complete course offering list for continuing education, please click on
//www.nyrei.com/conedschdlebymonth.aspx).
a. Effective for renewals on or after July 1, 2008, the 22.5 hours must include at least three hours of instruction pertaining to
Fair Housing and Law of Agency.
The remaining hours must consist of approved elective material.
a. Real estate professionals must complete 22.5 hours of continuing education every
two years to keep their licenses active.
a. Yes! The following courses have been approved for continuing education:
- 15-hour Title Closing Procedures for Real Estate Transactions
- 16-hour LEED Green Associate course (Approved by the Dept. of State for 15 hours of continuing education credits)
- 19.5-hour Commercial Real Estate Certificate course
- 20-hour NY SAFE Mortgage Loan Originator Course
- 22.5-hour Construction Management Certificate course
- 22.5-hour Green Buildings and Practices Certificate course
- 22.5-hour Property Management Certificate course
- 22.5-hour Real Estate and Investments course
- 30-hour Salesperson remedial course (must complete course & school exam in its entirety to get continuing education credit)
- 45-hour Brokers course (must complete course & school exam in its entirety to get continuing education credit)
*In addition to taking these courses, please make sure you also register for the mandated Fair Housing course.

a. As of February 1, 2010, licensees are no longer sent a paper renewal in the mail.
In accordance with New York's Green Initiative, the Division of Licensing Services will be requiring that all real estate
licensees renew their licenses online. To renew your license online you must have an active eAccessNY account and follow the directions on
the Department of State website
a. If you do not renew your license, you cannot conduct any real estate activities that
require a New York State real estate license in accordance with Article 12-A of the Real Property Law. There are no grace periods
that allow you to continue working while not licensed. You have two years from the date your license expires to renew your license.
If you fail to renew within that period, you will be required to pass the state written examination. No continuing education will
be required to repeat the licensing process again.
When you submit your new salesperson application, you must include the following: your new examination results, application fee,
and a copy of your expired license/pocket card or ORIGINAL proof of completing the salesperson course. If possible, it is better
to submit original proof of your salesperson course. If you do not have an original certificate, then call the school where you
took the course to request another certificate.
If you are applying for your broker's license, you must submit ORIGINAL proof of your 75-hour salesperson course and 45-hour broker
course, or a copy of your expired broker's license.
